Board Declares Fourth Quarter 1998 Dividend of 7.75%

The Federal Home Loan Bank of Seattle's Board of Directors approved a dividend at the annualized rate of 7.75 percent, paid in stock, for the fourth quarter of 1998. The dividend is calculated based on the capital stock outstanding since September 30, 1998. For stock purchased during the quarter, the dividend is computed on the actual pro rata portion of the 92 days in the fourth quarter that the stock was owned. Dividends will be paid on a pro rata basis for any stock redeemed during the quarter.

Looking to first quarter 1999, we expect earnings to support a dividend in the area of 7.00 to 7.50 percent. For all of 1999, assuming no changes in our investment authority, our budget targets an average dividend rate of 7.26 percent.
