Affordable Housing Program (AHP) grants are awarded twice annually in June and December. In 1998, the Seattle Bank awarded $10 million to 70 affordable housing developments in eight states. Following are brief descriptions of each of these projects.
ALASKA
Elders Home Rehabilitation Project, Kenai National Bank of Alaska secured a $99,000 grant to help the Kenaitze Indian Tribe rehabilitate the homes of 20 tribal elders.
HOME III Program, Anchorage National Bank of Alaska secured a $400,000 grant to help the Cook Inlet Housing Authority provide downpayment and closing cost assistance or reduce the principal on mortgage loans for 40 Alaska Natives and Native Americans. 
Housing for Self-Determination,
Alaska Native Villages
The First National Bank of Anchorage will use a grant of $1.03 million to help 22 rural Alaska Native villages build homes and apartments and provide homeownership opportunities for 87 families.
Munaqsri Senior Apartments, Nome
National Bank of Alaska will use a $48,000 grant to help the Nome Community Center, Inc. provide 17 apartments for elderly individuals.
The Women's House, Anchorage
Northrim Bank secured a grant of $13,500 to help Habitat for Humanity - Anchorage fund construction of three homes for families who will help in the building process.

HAWAII
Hanapepe Project, Hanapepe
Bank of America, FSB will use a grant of $39,992 to help the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands purchase eight homes and sell them to families through a lease-to-own arrangement.
Keaau Elderly Housing, Keaau
Realty Finance, Inc. obtained a grant of $94,000 to help the Hawaii Island Community Development Corporation build 19 apartments for elderly individuals.
Maui Self-Help Housing, Kihei
First Hawaiian Bank secured a $280,000 grant to aid the Self-Help Housing Corporation of Hawaii in assisting 40 families to build their own homes.
Miloli'i Self-Help Housing, Miloli'i
Bank of Hawaii secured a grant of $57,187 to help the Hawaii County Economic Opportunity Council assist five Native Hawaiian families in building their own homes on Hawaiian Home Lands.
Nanaikeola Senior Apartments, Waianae
American Savings Bank, FSB obtained a grant of $105,000 to help Hawaii Intergenerational Community Development Association provide 15 apartments for elderly individuals in Nanakuli on the island of Oahu.
Waiahole Valley Self-Help, Waiahole
American Savings Bank, FSB will use a $149,000 grant to assist the Self-Help Housing Corporation of Hawaii as it supports 20 families, including Native Hawaiians, in building their own homes.
Waiehu Kou Residence, Wailuku
Continental Savings Bank and Bank of America, FSB obtained a grant of $544,891 to help the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands construct 109 homes for sale to Native Hawaiians.
Waimanalo Homeownership, Waimanalo
Bank of Hawaii secured a $550,000 grant to help the Waimanalo Community Development Corporation provide downpayment assistance to 50 first-time homebuyers, including Native Hawaiians.

IDAHO
Affordable Housing for People with Disabilities, Idaho Falls
Washington Mutual Bank will use a $115,000 grant to help CHOICE, Inc. purchase 10 homes for disabled individuals.
Glenns Landing Apartments, Glenns Ferry
Bank of America, FSB secured a $74,796 grant to help Glenns Landing Limited Partnership fund the purchase and renovation of 16 apartments for families and people with disabilities.
PAC Homebuyer Program, Kootenai County
First Security Bank, NA will use a grant of $41,978 to help the Panhandle Area Council renovate or construct homes and provide homeownership opportunities to 10 families.
Pocatello Transitional Housing, Pocatello
Bank of Eastern Idaho secured a grant of $38,400 to help Aid For Friends and the Pocatello Transitional Housing Cooperative provide 12 apartments for homeless youth, families, and women recovering from substance abuse.
Silver Lake Apartments II, Coeur d'Alene
Bank of America, FSB secured a $200,800 grant to help Silver Lake Properties II, L.P. build 60 apartments for families and individuals, including people with special needs.
Sojourner Truth House, Moscow
FirstBank Northwest will use a $150,000 grant to help the Sojourners' Alliance build 30 apartments for homeless individuals.
Valley Crisis Center, Nampa
First Security Bank, NA obtained a grant of $432,000 to help Mercy Housing Idaho, Inc. fund the construction of a shelter for 16 victims of domestic violence.

MONTANA
Cedarview Group Home, Bozeman
First Security Bank of Bozeman obtained a grant of $12,000 to help Reach, Inc. fund the construction of a home for three disabled adults.
Quartz Street Project, Butte
Western Security Bank obtained a $126,000 grant to help Western Montana Mental Health Center develop Our House, a six-bed transitional facility, and the eight-unit Spurlock Apartments for adults with chronic mental illness.
Queen City Estates, Helena
Norwest Bank Montana, NA will use a grant of $84,307 to help Accessible Space, Inc. develop 25 apartments for individuals with a variety of physical disabilities.
Snowy Mountain Apartments, Lewiston
Western Security Bank obtained a $15,000 grant to help Regional Services for Southern, Central and Eastern Montana develop housing for six individuals, five of whom have disabilities.

OREGON
Antlers Hotel, Baker City
Pioneer Bank, FSB secured a grant of $154,000 to help Pacific Northwest Housing Resources rehabilitate an historic hotel to house 50 elderly individuals.
Cedar Pointe Cottages, Port Orford
Washington Mutual Bank secured a $20,000 grant to help the Umpqua Community Development Corporation provide 10 rental homes for families.
Community Outreach New Facility Project, Corvallis
Linn-Benton Bank will use a $204,000 grant to help Community Outreach, Inc. provide transitional apartments and emergency shelter for 41 homeless families and individuals.
Eastern Oregon Transitional Housing Project, Baker City, The Dalles, Ontario and Pendleton
U.S. Bank will use a $99,980 grant to help Greater Oregon Behavioral Health, Inc. construct transitional apartments for 20 people recovering from substance abuse.
Gilliam County Housing Opportunity Program, Gilliam County
Bank of Eastern Oregon obtained a grant of $210,000 to help Gilliam County Community Development Corporation purchase, rehabilitate or construct 30 homes for purchase by first-time homebuyers.
North Bend Neighborhood Guild Project, North Bend
Security Bank will use a $139,972 grant to help A'TOLL, Inc. provide 29 apartments for families and individuals.
Stevens Place, Medford
Washington Mutual Bank will use a $250,000 grant to help OnTrack provide 53 apartments for families and individuals, including those with HIV/AIDS and the homeless.
Tri-Haven Home, Aloha
Bank of America, FSB will use a $74,985 grant to help Homestreet, Inc./Tri-Haven Inc. renovate a commercial building to provide 15 apartments for disabled adults.
Westwood Green, Sweet Home
Washington Mutual Bank, FSB will use a $44,991 grant to help Linn County Affordable Housing, Inc. fund the construction of apartments for eight developmentally disabled adults and one on-site manager.

PACIFIC ISLANDS
No projects in American Samoa or Guam were awarded grants during this round of funding.
UTAH
Holiday Village Apartments, Park City
Bank of America, FSB secured a grant of $389,922 to help the Mountainlands Community Housing Trust purchase and rehabilitate 79 apartments for elderly individuals and people with special needs.
Mountain View Suites, Cedar City
State Bank of Southern Utah secured a $108,000 grant to help the Cedar City Housing Authority and the Utah Housing Finance Agency provide 18 apartments for elderly and/or disabled individuals.
Sundown Veterans Housing, Salt Lake City
First Security Bank, NA, will use a $112,000 grant to help the Housing Authority of Salt Lake City develop 14 apartments for homeless veterans and one resident manager.
WASHINGTON
Benton City Senior Housing, Benton City
Sterling Savings Bank secured a $154,000 grant to help the Housing Authority of Richland construct 22 apartments for elderly individuals.
Cedar Hill Affordable Housing, Kingston
Washington Mutual Bank will use a $25,000 grant to help the Port Gamble S'Klallam Housing Authority construct five homes on tribal trust land for families.
Clean House Apartments, Yakima
Yakima Federal Savings and Loan Association secured a grant of $140,000 to help Clean House Association develop 21 apartments for individuals with special needs.
Cottonwood Springs II, Davenport
Sterling Savings Bank secured an $89,000 grant to help Spokane Housing Ventures purchase, renovate and preserve 18 apartments serving families, the elderly and disabled.
Country Run, Cowlitz County
Bank of the Pacific obtained a $499,000 grant to help Shelter America Group provide 100 apartments for families.
Der Garten Haus, Leavenworth
First Savings Bank of Washington secured a grant of $144,000 to help the Housing Authority of Chelan County and the City of Wenatchee rehabilitate and preserve 32 apartments for elderly individuals.
Emergency Home Rehabilitation, Scattered Sites
West Coast Bank secured a $226,000 grant to help the Southern Puget Sound Inter-Tribal Housing Authority make emergency repairs to 39 homes located on four Indian reservations in western Washington.
Euclid Project, Shelton
Heritage Savings Bank obtained a grant of $15,900 to help Habitat for Humanity of Mason County assist four families in building their own homes.
Ferry County Housing Rehabilitation and Home Purchase Project, Republic
United Security Bank will use a $200,000 grant to help the Joint Republic/Ferry County Housing Authority renovate substandard homes and provide homeownership opportunities for 70 families.
Garden Village, Newport
United Security Bank obtained a $20,000 grant to help the Family Crisis Center provide two transitional apartments for families that are victims of domestic violence.
Haven House, Everett
Frontier Bank obtained a $50,000 grant to help Compass Health build 12 transitional apartments for homeless mentally ill individuals.
Heather Hill Apartments, Republic
United Security Bank secured a $27,000 grant to help the Joint Republic/Ferry County Housing Authority develop three transitional apartments for families and individuals.

Bank of America, FSB will use a grant of $299,940 to help the Washington State Housing Finance Commission provide homeownership opportunities for 60 individuals with disabilities.
Islander Apartments, Oak Harbor
InterWest Bank secured a grant of $40,000 to help the Housing Authority of Island County renovate 10 apartments for mentally ill individuals.
Lee Hotel, Port Angeles
First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Port Angeles secured a $225,000 grant to help the Clallam County Housing Authority rehabilitate the Lee Hotel to create 48 apartments.
Lincoln Way Apartments, Everett
U.S. Bank obtained a $248,750 grant to help Intercommunity Housing fund the construction of 50 apartments for families. 
Mossyrock Assisted-Living, Mossyrock
Cascade Bank obtained a grant of $112,000 to help Homestead Alternatives build 35 apartments for elderly and disabled adults.

Washington Mutual Bank secured a $35,000 grant to help the Southern Puget Sound Inter-Tribal Housing Authority provide homeownership opportunities for five tribal families.

U.S. Bank obtained a $74,985 grant to help Parkview Group Homes purchase and renovate five homes for 15 individuals with developmental disabilities.

Pend Oreille Bank secured a $52,400 grant to help Pend Oreille County Counseling build housing for 10 developmentally disabled adults and their families.

Towne Bank will use a grant of $164,967 to help the Low Income Housing Institute provide 33 apartments for homeless men, women and youth.

Cascade Bank obtained a grant of $112,000 to help Homestead Alternatives construct 35 studio apartments for the elderly and individuals with developmental disabilities.
Shekinah, Bremerton
Continental Savings Bank secured a grant of $269,760 to help the Community Resource Center provide 15 apartments and 15 scattered-site homes for families.
Sterling Meadows Apartments, Bellingham
U.S. Bank secured a grant of $124,750 to help Intercommunity Housing fund the construction of 51 apartments for families, including those that are homeless and have special needs.
The Meadows III Senior Apartments, Everett
Bank of America, FSB secured a $124,000 grant to help Senior Services Of Snohomish County construct 51 apartments for senior citizens.
Transitional Family Housing, Bellevue
Washington Mutual Bank secured a $99,980 grant to help the Multi-Service Centers of North and East King County develop 20 transitional apartments for homeless families.
Transitional Housing for Women, Vancouver
The Bank of Vancouver obtained a grant of $11,997 to help YW Housing purchase and renovate a house for three homeless women who have been in the corrections system.

Norwest Bank Wyoming, NA obtained a $32,000 grant to help the Upton Housing Authority provide 10 apartments for elderly individuals.
Goshen Care Center, Torrington
Tri-County Federal Savings Bank will use a grant of $244,951 to help the Goshen Care Center Joint Powers Board fund the construction of 49 apartments for elderly and disabled individuals.
Homestead on Uinta, Evanston
First Security Bank, NA will use a $68,600 grant to help the Evanston Housing Authority and Uinta Senior Citizens, Inc. fund the construction of 14 apartments for elderly individuals, including those who are mentally ill, homeless or disabled.
Hope Housing, Cheyenne
Norwest Bank Wyoming, NA secured a grant of $109,500 to help Community Action of Laramie County build 16 rental apartments for individuals and six homes for sale to families.
Mountain View Apartments, Torrington
Tri-County Federal Savings Bank secured a $39,992 grant to help the S.E. Wyoming Mental Health Center construct eight apartments for chronically mentally ill adults.
Parkview Senior Apartments, Gillette
